Santiago Calatrava deserves to be a Pritzker awardee for his wonderfully crafted and whimsical architectural innovations. He has combined the elements of linear geometries in a musical form as if one were listening to a
stringed instrument of an orchestra. His works evokes the passage of wind along a canopy of trees bending in succession like a bow as it swings back and forth along the bridge of a violin. Calatrava's time has come to be
a top contender for the Prizker prize in architecture.

Although the poetic in his compositions is mostly brilliant, I don't think Santiago Calatrava deserves the Pritzker Prize because, unlike the majority of past laureates, he is completely form/shape-centered and does not pay any interest whatsoever in explaining the reasons of his aesthetics.

His concepts are incredibly basic, insipid, simple and almost too comprehensible [eg.- he takes the shape of a flying bird for the design of the Alamillo bridge, and a turning torso for another building].

The outcome is absolutely astonishing but since it has no conceptual sustentation, it does not mean a substancial matter towards the evolution of Architecture and overall human thinking.

Let's remember that the Pritzker Architecture Prize is not just given to those who design 'pretty' buildings with innovative materials, but those who commit and concerne about the past, present and future of the Architectural labor, by developing both a philosophic and a philanthropic approach to all social layers and all building typologies.

I'm not saying he is entirely unable of reaching that level [and consequently inelegible for the award], because, trough his job, he has made clear that he has a particular vision on what nowadays architecture should be.

I believe it's just a matter of [maybe a lot of] time, experience and theoretical research until we can even consider Santiago Calatrava as a logical candidate for this award.
