Big City Forum presents The Club House at ForYourArt, beginning Saturday August 4th and continuing until August 18th. The two week pop-up event will serve as an exhibition space for ideas that encourage cross-disciplinary explorations of “maximum change”. Each Club House event involves contemporary art, architectural models, printed material, graphic design, photography, and product design. Leonardo Bravo, Edie Kahula Pereira, Ana Llorente, John Southern, and Creative Migration will serve as curators.
The architects chosen for the exhibition have diverse operative methods and topical interests, yet their material is universally significant to the theme of transformations in the city form. Individual architects and firms include Simon Storey/ Anonymous Architects, Volkan Alkanoglu, Jennifer Bonner & Christian Stayner, Tim Durfee, David Freeland, Fievre Jones, LAYER, Osborn, Servo Los Angeles, The Rare Studio, Bureau for Architecture and Design, SwiftLee Office, Axel Schmitzberger, and Patrick Tighe.
Among the featured works, Creative Migration will present a short documentary titled Post New Bills on August 16. The film is part of the Green Patriot Posters campaign to inspire collective action against climate change. The presentation will also include posters by artists such as Shepard Fairey and Mike Perry, an interactive installation, and a silent auction to promote sustainability.
The opening reception for The Club House is August 4th from 3-6 pm at FORYOURART, across from LACMA. R&Being in the 21st Century is Thursday, August 9th and literary readings will be held on August 7th and August 14th.
