For the first time ever, enthusiasts of Benedikt Taschen’s stunning, collectible volumes will be able to purchase one outside of a Taschen store. The publisher is teaming with to offer a limited-edition book from the show Genesis (presented simultaneously by museums in London, Toronto, Rome and Rio de Janeiro) by photographer Sebastião Salgado. The photos document Salgado’s travels around the globe, where he shot remote, pristine locations still untouched by the ravages of the modern world.

Sold exclusively online on, the sale offers just 500 numbered and signed sets (five editions of just 100 copies), which include two volumes nearly four-feet tall—and a bookstand designed by Tadao Ando. For Taschen, Ando’s involvement in the Salgado project was a natural fit: bringing together a titan of architecture with a titan of photography. The stand itself is deceptively simple, crafted out of twin pieces of cherrywood to support the twin volumes of the book.

The sale goes live today with a pre-publication price of $9,000; the price increases to $10,000 after June 15.
