EVENTS: WestEdge Is This Week

There’s a new design fair in town—WestEdge. Bringing together some 150 national and international brands, the event is the brainchild of Megan Reilly and Troy Hanson, who have produced and managed some of the biggest design events around (think ICFF, NeoCon and the Architectural Digest Home Design Show). For Reilly, and Hanson it’s the right fair at the right time. “Our clients and partners have been encouraging us to launch an event on the West Coast for years given the demand for a premium design fair in this region,” she says. “Los Angeles is experiencing a renaissance of sorts as it relates to art and design, architecture and manufacturing, and that momentum is a very exciting thing to be a part of and something we felt needed to be celebrated.”

At FORM, particularly excited about the list of panels planned, which will feature members of the FORM team as well as friends of the magazine. Our publisher, Ann Gray, is slated to be part of a panel on Saturday, October 5 at 1 PM, where she and architect Doug Burdge, AIA, of Burdge & Associates Architects; and real estate agent Madison Hildebrand, of Bravo’s Million Dollar Listing and president/founder of The Malibu Life, Inc., will discuss questions and trends in today’s luxury real estate market at their panel, “Hi-Luxe Real Estate: Holding Value in a Dramatic Market.” According to Gray, “Many pundits believe the luxury market is a barometer of larger economic trends. So, in addition to exploring design trends, we’ll be looking at their larger implications. It will be an exciting discussion.”

FORM contributing writer Michael Webb will be moderating the Friday panel, “Renovating a Modernist Masterpiece: Improving Upon the Spirit of the Greats.” Featuring Steven Ehrlich, FAIA, Ehrlich Architects; Peter Grueneisen, FAIA; nonzero/architecture; David Montalba, AIA, Montalba Architects; Mike Grosswendt, All Coast Construction, the discussion will touch on successful and sensitive updats to some Modern icons.

For more information, be sure to visit WestEdge’s Web site. We hope to see you there, starting Thursday!
