We shop online for books, clothes, groceries, even eyeglasses. What we don’t shop for much is furniture. By some estimates, only about three percent of furniture purchases are currently made online. When you think about it, it makes sense. Shopping for furniture is a singularly tactile experience. We want to feel the fabric or the finish and sit in the chair or the sofa. We want to walk around it and get the 360-degree experience so that when it comes times to put it in our living room or dining room, we know exactly what we’re getting.

Bryght.com is aiming to change all that. The company, based out of Vancouver, BC, and launched just a few months ago, is betting that we’re ready and willing to go online for high-quality furnishings, because, as Amir Baig, the CEO and a co-founder, puts it, “our scarcest resource is time.” To that end, Baig and his partners have created a company that offers high-style furniture with a contemporary flair that’s just a click away. Making it even more appealing, the pieces are priced substantially below their competitors since they source directly from designers and manufacturers, cutting out importers, distributors and sales people.

Besides offering affordable, quality, Amir and his team have taken steps to make the experience as risk-free as possible. The photography of their pieces is as high-resolution as possible, so buyers can get a detailed picture of the items they’re considering. They also offer free fabric swatches to bring a bit of that tactile experience into online shopping. Finally, and most importantly, if a customer isn’t happy with their purchase, they can send it back and not be charged for shipping or re-stocking. “To make this work,” says Baig, “we had to be bold.”
