Lago Vista Guest House in Beverly Hills

In preparation for the second part of AIA-LA's Fall Home Tours on October 17, we are featuring each of the houses from the last tour, entitled The Hills: From East to West, on September 19. This is the Lago Vista Guest House, designed by Aleks Istanbullu, AIA, of Aleks Instanbullu Architects in Santa Monica.

The specific function of a guest house allowed the designer to create a conceptual yet meditative space. The building integrates the natural environment of its Beverly Hills location into all aspects of the home, from the cactus-green exterior to the extensive use of glass and natural light. The full-walled library features a glass corner that looks out onto the terraced gardens, creating a unique center for contemplation and relaxation.
