The Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles and music label IAMSOUND will present the first of three installments of PLAY MOCA this Friday July 27th from 6:00 to 10:00pm. LA-based design group COCO will create a temporary installation titled invertedLA to showcase the museum’s collaboration of musicians, artists, and designers.
The curated space will feature 400 large balloons suspended above the crowds. The SCI-Arc graduates comprising COCO designed the balloons to morph with the atmosphere and imagery in motion, reflecting themes of LA’s varied and extraordinary topography. The overall effect is a playful, dynamic experience of music, film, light, and motion.
The first show will feature performances by Salem and IO ECHO, Visuals by Drew Barrymore, and a DJ Set by Health. Future shows will be held on August 17th and August 24th.
