Sonoma Living will showcase a wide variety of architectural styles, neighborhoods, and residences—all from the architect's point of view. The program provides design enthusiasts and the general public with an inside look into the world of distinctive residences in Sonoma county. Tour participants have the opportunity to see some of the area's latest residential projects from the inside out, meet design teams, explore housing trends, and discover design solutions that inspire unique Sonoma living.


Design for Social Impact
May 25–August 3, 2014
Based on the idea that design is a way of looking at the world with an eye for changing it, the Museum of Design Atlanta (MODA) presents Design for Social Impact, an original exhibition offering a look at how designers, engineers, students, professors, architects and social entrepreneurs use design to solve the problems of the 21st century.

VERGE: The AIA|LA 2010 2x8 Student Exhibit

The American Institute of Architects Los Angeles is pleased to announce the opening of the 2010 2x8 Student Exhibition on Saturday June 26, 2010 at the Los Angeles Convention Center. This year’s exhibition will be held in conjunction with Dwell on Design, the west coast’s largest modern design event, and Mobius LA.

2x8 is an annual exhibition sponsored by the AIA|LA, showcasing exemplary student work from architecture and design institutions throughout California. Each of the participating academic programs selects two projects that exemplify its core vision. The students’ design work will be judged by a noteworthy panel of architects and designers, who will then announce the winners at the exhibition opening and convene in a forum to discuss the successful work.

AFLA Presents Design Green

Design Green is a competition to honor projects that integrate exceptional design with new high performance standards for sustainability, LEED certified for their effectiveness, while redefining architecture.

LEED certified projects completed 2005 or later are eligible to enter. Award winning projects will be presented at both the 2010 USGBC/LA Green Gala and AIA/LA Awards this Fall.

AECOM's Urban SOS: Transformations Competition

AECOM has opened the Urban SOS: Transformations competition, offering US $20,000 in prize money for integrated design responses to sites in select global cities. The competition is open to students in the fields of architecture, urban and regional planning, urban design, landscape architecture, economics, environmental science, engineering, and related disciplines.

The submission period is open until July 31, 2010. Semi-finalists will be announced September 15, and the winner(s) will be announced November 5. Visit www.aecom.com/urbansos for complete submission requirements.

IIDA Student Design Exhibition, June 24th - 26th at the Herman Miller Showroom

Please join IIDA for the first annual IIDA SoCal Student Design Exhibition. See the quality & breadth of what design students produce and vote for your favorite projects.

Featuring:
- Thesis projects from Southern California’s top design schools
- Finalist from the F3 Student Furniture Design competition
- Furniture pieces from Art Center, Bernhardt sponsored Design Studio

Participating students will display their work and provide resumes to interested parties. The exhibition will run from June 24th - 26th at the Herman Miller Showroom: 3641 Holdrege Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90016.
