The first-ever retrospective exhibition uncovering, examining and celebrating six decades of rich design history in West Hollywood. The curated ­­gallery will showcase design pioneers and present tastemakers through bold graphics, photographs and original product.

FOG Design + Art Fair

Provocations: The Architecture and Design of Heatherwick Studio
February 20–May 24, 2015
This February, the Hammer Museum will present the West Coast debut of Provocations: The Architecture and Design of Heatherwick Studio, featuring the imaginative work of British designer Thomas Heatherwick and his London-based studio. Heatherwick is known for his unique design concepts ranging from products, such as a handbag for Longchamp, to large-scale structures like the new distillery for Bombay Sapphire Gin.

Keiichi Matsuda's Augmented City

Keiichi Matsuda, a designer and film maker, often enjoys explore futuristic design concepts through the medium of film. One of his latest experiments is entitled Augmented City, a small walk through a few
minutes in different people’s lives in a city filled with augmented reality technology. Beyond forecasting
the way people may live in the future, the video demonstrates a series of different technological devices
and interfaces.

Maltzan and Burnett's Central Park at Playa Vista

The recently opened 7.9-acre Central Park at Playa Vista, a park that was designed by Michael Maltzan, Architecture in collaboration with the Office of James Burnett, features a fun-looking meringue-like event shell´╗┐. The Argonaut has more on the park's opening, while Burnett's web site has a tidy description of the berm garden, the function lawn, the performance pavilion, the sports courts, and the children’s garden.

Recycled Pallets-Material of the Moment : Palettenpavillon by Matthais Loebermann

The Palettenpavillon by Matthias Loebermann is a structure made entirely from shipping pallets, ground anchors, and tie rods. Designed to be easily assembled and dismantled, and then entirely recycled at a later date, the resulting building is intended as a temporary meeting place.
