LA Forum Kicks Off On the Map 2012 Lecture Series With "Supercession"

Villas at Gower (Photo Courtesy of Killefer Flammang Architects)Killefer Flammang Architects and the LA Forum will present "Supercession" this Thursday at the Villas at Gower in Hollywood. The lecture is the first from the "On the Map 2012" series, which will focus on urban infill and redevelopment as evolutionary processes without terminal resolutions or finite fates.

Thursday's event will examine The Villas at Gower, a collaboration between PATH Ventures and A Community of Friends. The four-story building provides permanent affordabe housing for transitional age youth, adults, and families in Hollywood who are homeless and have special needs. On the ground floor, two large community rooms serve as meeting and gallery spaces for tenant work.

Each project explored by the series will be presented as a dialogue between the design process and the larger, neighborhood context. Projects were chosen based on their challenges to previous patterns of land use.

Supercession begins Thursday July 19th at 7:00 pm. General Admission is $10, Students are $5, and LA Forum members get in for free.
