The West Hollywood Design District Presents Decades of Design 1948–2014

The first-ever retrospective exhibition uncovering, examining and celebrating six decades of rich design history in West Hollywood. The curated ­­gallery will showcase design pioneers and present tastemakers through bold graphics, photographs and original product.

FOG Design + Art Fair

Benefiting the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA), FOG Design+Art is a four-day celebration and exploration of modern and contemporary design, architecture, and art with dynamic exhibits, custom installations, art galleries, lectures, and discussions with leaders in the art and design worlds.

Provocations: The Architecture and Design of Heatherwick Studio
February 20–May 24, 2015
This February, the Hammer Museum will present the West Coast debut of Provocations: The Architecture and Design of Heatherwick Studio, featuring the imaginative work of British designer Thomas Heatherwick and his London-based studio. Heatherwick is known for his unique design concepts ranging from products, such as a handbag for Longchamp, to large-scale structures like the new distillery for Bombay Sapphire Gin.

AIA LA Jury Announces Nominees in the Restaurant Design Awards Competition

Hyde lounge by G+ Design. Photo by Ryan ForbesThe American Institute of Architects Los Angeles has announced 16 nominees in the eighth annual Restaurant Design Awards Competition.

The competition jury was comprised of KCRW radio personality, chef, and restaurateur Evan Kleiman; architect Mark Rios, FAIA; and Bravo's wunderkind Top Chef winner and restaurateur Michael Voltaggio. The jury selected 16 projects in three categories: nine restaurants, three cafe/bars and four lounge/nightclubs. For a complete list, and to vote for the people’s Choice Award in each category, visit the AIA LA website.

The winners will be announced on Friday, June 22 as part of Dwell on Design at the L.A. Convention Center.

VERGE: The AIA|LA 2010 2x8 Student Exhibit

The American Institute of Architects Los Angeles is pleased to announce the opening of the 2010 2x8 Student Exhibition on Saturday June 26, 2010 at the Los Angeles Convention Center. This year’s exhibition will be held in conjunction with Dwell on Design, the west coast’s largest modern design event, and Mobius LA.

2x8 is an annual exhibition sponsored by the AIA|LA, showcasing exemplary student work from architecture and design institutions throughout California. Each of the participating academic programs selects two projects that exemplify its core vision. The students’ design work will be judged by a noteworthy panel of architects and designers, who will then announce the winners at the exhibition opening and convene in a forum to discuss the successful work.

MOBIUS LA allows attendees the opportunity to both earn continuing education units as well as network without having to travel outside of Los Angeles.
