Fans of color, not to mention fans of midcentury design, will be thrilled to see the newest ceramic tile collection form Portland, Oregon–based Clayhaus Ceramics. In time for fall, they’re introducing 10 new shapes and 24 new, matte finish glazes to their line of tile offerings.

Summer. The season of outdoor festivals and, it seems, innovative, temporary structures that seem to capture the fleeting pleasures of the season itself. At Pickathon, a three-day music event held just outside of Portland, Oregon, the two have converged. It all started last year, when the director of Portland State University’s architecture program, Clive R. Knights, and Zale Schoenborn, one of Pickathon’s key players, began talking about engaging PSU students in a design-build project for a structure that would serve as the event’s main entry point.
Cyan Building is a LEED Gold certified workforce housing building created by THA Architecture, Inc. and GBD Architects in Portland, Oregon. The building is sixteen stories, with 354 apartments, 6,000 square feet of rental space, a 13,000 square foot public garden, and access to public transportation. It is constructed from 75 percent recycled materials, and is 20% more efficient than the building code requires.
