Canstruction and FORM Host First San Francisco Competition, June 22-26
FORM Magazine is teaming up with the San Francisco chapter of Canstruction as media sponsor to host the city's first annual competition from June 22-26 at Metreon mall. Canstruction is a non-profit organization that holds yearly design competitions all over the U.S., where contestants build over-sized structures entirely out of cans. Winning designs are displayed in the city, then all component cans and foods are donated to local food banks. All proceeds from this event will be donated to the San Francisco Food Bank.
Canstruction began in 1992 with the mission of raising awareness about hunger, and making strides towards its eradication. Last year, Canstruction raised over 2 million pounds of food, enough food to provide 1.5 million meals. The event will help increase the San Francisco Food Bank's ability to feed those in need. They currently provide food for close to 200,000 people through more than 400 non-profit partners.
