PRODUCT: Wood and Glass Intersect in John Houshmand's New Design

The inspiration behind this piece was that ongoing imagery we play with of one medium penetrating another," says furniture designer John Houshmand, who is known for combining elemental materials, such as wood, steel and glass, into sculptural furnishings. His latest design, Nº 0189, a low table made with starfire glass and spalted maple, was handcrafted on his 900-acre farm in upstate New York to showcase the natural edges, patina and form of the wood. "The wood is actually at two different heights," explains Houshmand, "but it looks even because of the diffraction of the glass." The custom table can be made-to-order in different sizes and materials from Houshmand's New York or Los Angeles showroom.
