I try to find which are the places that really have retained their character, that haven’t been overwhelmed by mass tourism, which is a serious issue now. And which has something unique to offer. A character that may have been formed centuries ago or yesterday.
Michael Webb Hon. AIA/LA has authored more than twenty books on architecture and design, most recently Moving Around: A Lifetime of Wandering, Architects’ Houses, and Building Community: New Apartment Architecture, while contributing essays to many more. He is also a regular contributor to leading journals in the United States and Europe. Growing up in London, he was an editor at The Times and Country Life, before moving to the US, where he directed film programs for the AFI and curated a Smithsonian exhibition on Hollywood.

Christine Anderson is the President of Communication Arts + Design, Inc., a public relations agency providing PR and marketing services to architects, designers and design showrooms. For over 20 years, she and her team have publicized numerous design luminaries and exquisite product lines. Ms. Anderson’s agency works in all facets of communications and provides PR expertise in media relations; special events and marketing support for a variety of design platforms. Her staff advises clients on cultural and charitable support programs and develops PR programming keyed to the designer, architect and consumer. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communication Studies from UCLA, with a minor in art history, and attended the master’s program at UCLA in film studies. Her career activities include participation with the A + D Museum ; LA Conservancy; the Institute for Classical Architecture and Art; LACMA; MOCA; The Hammer Museum; and Art Table. She has also reported extensively for National Public Radio’s ‘Arts LA’ and Performance Today’ programs, and has hosted the noted podcast ‘Convo by Design’ which airs on iTunes. She also lectures on marketing and PR at the UCLA School of Interior Design. In her spare time she plays tennis and golf, and does yoga for pure salvation.
